Friends Of All Ages, United In Worship
Who
we are
In Every Generation seeks to break down invisible age barriers in the American Church - fostering and modeling intergenerational friendship through the writing, recording, and releasing of contemporary worship music and resources.
The Songs
In August and October of 2024, we held two songwriting camps, with over 35 writers, ranging in age from 17 to 78. Those four days gave us almost 50 new songs and - just as importantly - rich, new intergenerational friendships.
Listen here to the demos for the songs we’ll be recording at Oceanway Studios on March 3 & 4, 2025.
Our Story
It’s not hard to notice that, here in America, people have been leaving the Church at an alarmingly quickening rate. However, recent studies are telling us that young people who have relationships with members of the church community outside their family and their own age group are almost twenty times more likely to stay in the Faith in their adulthood.
Intergenerational friendships are deeply important.
Yet, with the best of intentions, the American church has built an avalanche of age-defined programs, effectively putting up walls where intergenerational friendships might have historically been able to grow.
In Every Generation was launched when Belmont University received a grant from the Lilly Foundation. Our goal: to help reunite the generations in the Church body during the Sunday morning worship service.
To do this, we are creating:
A series of albums, full of songs to encourage and inspire the Church at large
Worship Leader Resources so local Churches can use these songs in their own worship services
Media Content that showcases the work we have done in our intentionally intergenerational songwriting and recording camps, to serve as a model
Live Worship Appearances and Speaking Presentations at Major Conferences
Written Articles, Journals, Book Content and Peer-Reviewed Research
